2nd FO

Here are my finished Grape Nehi socks. I should call them my Blueberry Not-so Nehi socks.

Specifics:

Pattern: Grape Nehi socks
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Sheppard sock in Pond Blue, much more vibrant in real life.
Needles: Boyle dpns size 2
Modifications: They are obviously not knee highs. I also adapted the heel from widdershins (these are toe-up) I used Judy's Magic cast on and a sewn bind off.

These count as my January socks; I finished them January 27, 2007. Yes that was a Saturday night. And I stayed in and watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer on dvd and finished these socks.
I'm soo old.

These socks are great and make a pretty lace pattern. The four row repeat was easy to memorize as well. They remind me of Hederas for those reasons.

2 FOs!!!

But I'm only showing you one for now. I don't have a picture of my socks yet.

Pattern: 1x1 ribbed scarf
Yarn: Lamb's Pride Worsted in Jack's plum
Needles: Boyle interchangable circulars size 11
Started: Sunday January 21, 2007
Finished: Tuesday January 23, 2007

This was a super quick scarf because I held the yarn double.

In the picture you can see the other two wips I had going on at the time. The one on the right in the teal color is a pair of Broadmittens from Knitty. The blue blob in the back is the grape nehi socks that I have actually finished Saturday night. Here is a progress picture of the at the time this picture was taken.

The sock on the left only needed to be bound off while the sock on the right needed about 5 more repeats and then the ribbing left.
The yarn is Lorna's Laces Sheppard sock of course!

Stay tuned for the FO post about these and other current wips!

Btw, that's not my place, it's my artist bf's hence the paint splattered table and easel he made in the background...that sucker is 7 ft tall!!!

I just need to get through this weekend

I can't wait until this weekend is over! It has been busy all week at work-although I kind of like it-makes work go by faster since there's always something for me to do...Really there's always stuff for me to do but I dont want to do those things. It's just that customers can get meaner faster...and they get in my way.

But this is a knitting blog so how about some knitting content.

Two nights ago I finished the Lorna's Laces Sheppard socks in Ravenswood. Although the skeins were from the same dyelot, there is a definate difference. The first sock has WAY more pink. That was from a frogged sock so I needed a new skein by the time I got to the toe (make longer legs) and its all blue. Plus that toe is really pointy because I forgot to stop when I got to 12 stitches. On the other hand the second sock's toe is completely square (ish) because I was watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and went past the point where I shouldve started decreasing. But did I frog? NO. I hate frogging, especially since the socks were already so different, theres no point. Also the ribbing is way shorter-I hate ribbing I've realized.

What's next on the list?

What I *should* do next:
  • Well I need to do the other sock using Claudia's handpainted yarn...as much as i love the yarn Im procrastinating on winding it.
  • Theres that same problem with the somewhat cowl
What I *want* to do:
  • Cast on for one of the dozen socks that I want to knit from Knitting on the Road and Knitting Vintage Socks (my great bf bought it for me for Christmas)
  • Endpaper mitts
  • Anemoi mittens
  • Arogosy
  • Corazon
  • And Cookie's socks: Monkey, Pomatomus, BBF, another hedera...
  • and the list goes on.
Theres a bad photo of my center square hat on flickr. I have to go now and talk to my bf who has left me for break. Happy Holidays!

  • Made a Center Square hat
  • Basic socks with Claudia's Handpainted yarns-1 sock complete other hank still needs to be wound
  • Basic socks with Lorna's Laces Sheppard Sock-Working down the foot of the second sock, I just finished the gusset
More details and pictures later.

Happy Holidays!

Opal Petticoat

I'm skipping class right now because I didn't want to walk the mile and back in the rain and have to worry about my notebook getting wet and all the ink running and the wet pants legs. Oh and lets not forget about the cold!

So here are my Opal Petticoat socks that I finished. In the picture the second toe hadn't been kitchened but I was at my bf's house so that had to wait until I got home. In reality they are done. They have been for over a week, but I'm just now getting to blogging about it.

I didn't know until right now how different the heels look. I mean, my left foot is bigger than my right (for some reason around 9-10 it just swelled up, and hardly went back down...reason unknown) but come on. Oh well, I don't care really.

As you can see I had a lot of yarn left. I think I'm going to make a pair of socks for my cousin. She's 3 1/2.

I really like these socks and recieved a lot of compliments on them while knitting on them (because I KIP! YEAH).

I've realized that I would like to have 2 pairs of socks in the making at all times. One being a basic sock so I can knit while watching Grey's Anatomy and Adult Swim, and another one which needs more attention. I need more sock yarn-its seriously lacking. I'm sad. I need money.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I'll be going home for the day as I have to be a work at 7 am for the crazy mall shoppers. By the time I actually get traffic here it'll be after the weekend when the sock updates come out so I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!

Old Projects

I realized that I didn't have pictures of some projects that I have completed recently so I took pictures of them when I took the ones of Widdershins. I'm going to try to remember to take weekly progress pictures (at least until I get a new USB cord) at my boy's house from now on. So I hope to get some tomorrow or this weekend.

Here is my Manos del Uraguay scarf. I LOVE IT! It took only one skein. So I have another one left at my disposal. 1x1 rib. I think U.S. size 10.5 Boyle straight needles. Pretty sure. Anyways it was inspired by the Purl Scarf in Last Minute Knitted Gifts...but I didn't add Rowan's Kidsilk Haze.
Here is a better picture of my Hedera socks that I finished awhile ago. I didn't realize before but now when I see this picture that there is some mistake on my right foot. It is bothering me to no end.
I had another picture to show you of a burgandy scarf I made (you can see the edge of it in the corner of the picture above) but I can't locate it.

Anyways, GREY'S ANATOMY comes on TONIGHT! YAY! I was knitting before class and a girl came up to me and asked me if I had seen it because of Meredith's knitting. Then she said she needs to be doing that. I said it would never work to keep me from guys! I love it but guys are cute.

Oh and for the record, I'm not diggin' Daylight Savings Time. Just sayin'.
