Finally an FO!

I just finished these a few minutes ago. I actually finished knitting these at the beginning of the week and they've just been sitting there waiting for me to graft the toes. My grafting sucks. And I'm a tight knitter. I used 72 stitches on size ones and these are still a little snug...although it could just be that I'm not used to wearing handknit socks. So these are going to have to be for me because my mom's feet are bigger than mine. Sigh...

Specifics:
Yarn:Paton's Kroy Sock Yarn
Needles: Boyle and Susan Bates size 1; 5 double point needles
Pattern: basic sock top down, with help from Sensational Knitted Socks for heel flap and toes decreases
Finished: June 30, 2006

These can count for the Sock a Month KAL AND Count your socks! Yes!

Hope everyone has a nice and safe holiday weekend!

Taking a break

from physics to finally blog. I have yet to do any of my scientific journals that I need to do for Plant Development. Here are my Paton's Kroy socks. As you can see progress has been slow due to not knitting at all last week until Saturday night when I turned the heel on one of the socks. Since then I haven't knit on the other at all. I'd rather turn the heel and do the gusset decreases at one time so I don't lose my place and have to count stitches and whatnot. I probably won't get enough time to do that until the weekend again. You can see the physics book in the top corner of the picture.

Well since I cant format this the way I want to, this will have to do. I finally bought Last Minute Knitted Gifts so I can finally make the infamous Hourglass Sweater. I will also make the Purl Scarf minus the Rowan Kidsilk Haze since I don't like mohair too much b/c it sticks to everything. But look at this pretty one that I discovered.

I also downloaded Wendy's Somewhat Cowl sweater. I've done the swatch in Silky Wool
that I got on sale at The Knitting Sisters in Williamsburg during their memorial day sale. I don't have pictures of the yarn though. So I'll probably end up casting on for that instead of working on Orangina like I should be for the Amazing Lace.

Of course when I want to be working on the most things, I'm the busiest...well I'm actually doing some of the work I should be doing. I'm shooting for a B in physics (an A would be nice, but I've got to be realistic here).

Have a good week everyone!

Quick update

I started a new pair of socks using Patons Kroy sock yarn to give myself a break from Organina so I can come back full force. I'm knitting them both at the dame time but I'm still using dpns. I figured this is better since I always get struck by SSS. I would've tried magic look or two socks on two circulars but I lack the materials to try either of those. I feel an addi purchse may be in the future...gotta get paid!
I actually wanted to start Organina again on the first but I've been working so much. But it WILL be started this weekend before my two killer summer classes start.
So yeah, next post will be better.with pics. And probably longer since my stitches will be off and I can type again.cant wait

P.S. Amy Tan's The Bonesetter's Daughter is GREAT! That and Toni Morrison's Sula are the other reasons why I havent started Organina. I missed reading for pleasure so much!
